Ok, so this may not be 100% correct, but we can all see the approach taken by the government to reduce cigarette sales nationwide which is if ya can’t treat ‘em, tax ‘em. With the new tobacco tax levied on many cigarette sales, smokers are left to bear the brunt of a significant price increase for the cost of a pack of cigarettes. The tax is hailed as the largest increase in history implemented in hopes of curbing the smoking habit by putting pressure on the wallet of smokers. In some states, the combination of local and federal taxes has torpedoed cigarette prices by as much as an additional $3.50 per pack. It’s not hard to envision the logic here – increase prices to frustrate purchases. This leaves smokers trapped between a rock and a hard place.
But alas, there is another option! The electronic cigarette not only makes a cheaper alternative possible, but also constitutes potential savings to smokers – even prior to the tax increase. The difference lies in the replaceable cartridges. The replaceable cartridges allows e-cig users to save money since they can be purchased separately, for a nominal cost, and placed into the e-cig. One cartridge is comparable to about 15 – 20 cigarettes and comes in a variety of flavors. It’s not hard to imagine the potential savings here – once the starter kit is purchased, only the cartridges need to be replaced periodically. Additionally, your e-cigarette pleasure lasts a lot longer than a conventional pack of cigarettes since there are no “extras” that are usually finished as fast as you buy them from the random person “bumming a smoke.”
